i really want to have a wedding in the caribbean. i live in NJ and don’t want to go too far. i was thinking of St. Thomas. has anyone ever been married there? do you know of any nice hotels in st. thomas that i can be married? i was looking at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef and Morning star. is it any good?if not, where in the Caribbean have you been married? Do you know any one who has been married in the caribbean?i would like to know how much it costs (roughly). i should also mention that i’m planning on inviting over 70 people ( i know call me crazy) but we both have big families. this is why i don’t want to go very far. (6 hours from Newark air port max).i heard of sandals and breezes, they don’t allow children so that won’t work out. on top of that, our guests will not be staying for 6 nights. to be honest, i planned on having them fly in on Friday and fly out on Sunday :-) please help me. i know the question is lengthy, but i really would like some help. thanks so much.

P.S. if you know any good deals let me know :-)

My sister is getting married at St Thomas in April.

Consider a cruise ship wedding. That might be cheaper. There are lots of hotels on St Thomas. Many people may want to book their own lodging since it may be cheaper to stay at Best Western.

Also Sandals is adult only but Beaches (their sister resort) is not.

Check out reviews on tripadvisor for different hotels. Frenchman’s Reef is close to downtown. I don’t know if that’s what you are going for or not. It is close to the shopping but it is on the busier side of the island. You may rather be on the Meghan’s Bay side. There are some great resorts that are expensive though–Elysian comes to mind.

My sister is getting married on Limetree Beach (now called Bluebeard’s Beach). We are using Islandweddingservices.com for our wedding planning and have been very pleased with them. They respond quickly to emails.

The most expensive thing I noticed was the flight to St Thomas. Check sidestep.com for your area but for us it would be close to 1,000 per person for round trip flight. Also time of year. The best time (aka cheapest) time to go to St Thomas is prior to may or hurricane season (October-Nov). But you may not want to go during that time as there is always the chance that a hurricane might ruin your whole week.

A wedding in St Thomas is rather cheap. We are spending less than 3000. No one will fly down Friday and back Sunday though. That would be spending close to 3,000 to come to your wedding without enjoying any time on the island. Invite 70 definitely but as it’s a destination wedding do not expect that many to come. If they cannot afford the week vacation there, they are not going to come for the wedding alone. It’s just too expensive of a flight.

One Response to “serious inquires about Caribbean weddings, please?”
