I would prefer to go some place tropical and off the mainland of the United States. If anybody has personal experience that would be perfect.

Everyone talks about tropical destination weddings, but what about the north? Snow maybe?

yes absolutely, my sister was married in Northern Michigan at Castle Farms. It was a breath-taking cinderella type wedding. It was in an old castle that they use just for weddings. It wasn’t in the winter months though, she got married in August. But I would imagine that they do weddings all year round if you were looking for a snowy back-drop. best of luck

Just got engaged and we want to have a small tropical wedding. Waht’s the best time of year for that and the cheapest time to go??? Can you get vacation packages that include weddings? How do I get a photographer?

It really depends on where you want to go. Spring and fall are usually good, but in some places winter is best. You’ll always want to avoid school’s vacations, because prices get jacked up (keep in mind Canada’s school breaks as well, they like to hit the tropics too!). As far as prices, they really go hand in hand with the best time of year…. I’ve been planning a Key West wedding, and the best time to go is also the most expensive…mid spring. I’ve been re-thinking Key West and now I’m leaning more towards Costa Rica. When you google venues for these places, you’ll find the rates correlating with seasons. It’ll pretty much spell it out to you. A lot of places in the Caribbean include flights, vacations, activities such as swimming with dolphins, food, and everything. When you do the wedding packages, they include almost everything! Cake and all. I recommend finding your own photography though, because you get what you’re given at a resort, and photography is something you don’t want to play with! Good luck.

ADDITION: summer is typically the worst time of year for a tropical wedding due to humidity, heat, rain, and hurricane season. Listen, you should really join us on The Knot, in the Destination Wedding forum. The girls there are soo soo nice, and helpful. You can look at tons of the girls pics, read their reviews, talk to them about about it, and get TONS of advice on anything and everything. I would have been lost without them! Joining the knot is free, so get moving! When you click on community, click on the special boards section, scroll down to destination weddings. When you get there, just say Hi, newbie here! and talk away! If you want to speak to someone specific, we create a post and make the title like this ***Shellie*** (if you’re looking for me) and leave what ever message you want. When they are on, they’ll find it and answer you. Everyone will welcome you kindly. They aren’t catty like the girls here are. I hardly ever hear the word tacky over there! The rules are different for us DW girls, and these chicks don’t get it! I got bashed often for my opinions and views. Come join us, You’ll be glad ya did!
